In the seaside town of Nyborg on the island of Funen lies Holckenhavn Castle. Built in 1579, its style shows Renaissance inspiration, and with its moats and turrets, Holckenhavn is a magnificent sight. When it was time to restore the old floors, the choice fell on Dinesen, and today, long beautiful Douglas planks adorn the corridors and halls of the historical building.

Holckenhavn is one of the most impressive manor houses in Denmark, with a history dating back to the 16th century. Holckenhavn Castle has changed name and ownership several times throughout history. It even has royal provenance, as Christian IV was married to Kirsten Munk, whose mother owned the castle.
The castle has been in the Holck family since 1672 and is currently managed by the 14th generation of the family, serving mainly as a venue for conferences and private events.
Holckenhavn Castle has Dinesen Douglas plank floors throughout. The planks underscore the grandiose atmosphere of the castle’s many halls, corridors and rooms as a harmonious complement to the historical setting.
Dinesen has great expertise and experience with creating floors for listed buildings, and over the years Dinesen has supplied planks to many palaces, manor houses and churches, including Frederik VIII’s Palace in Copenhagen and Comillas Pontifical University in the north of Spain.
