Nicolai Bergmann’s home in Hakone rests peacefully on a two-hectare plot with an unobstructed view of the landscape and Fujisan, Japan’s highest mountain. The house was designed by Klein Dytham Architects to blend into the natural setting and the beautiful scenery of hot springs and forests.
The interior design of Bergmann’s Japanese country villa is carefully planned. The simple, well-designed house draws its main inspiration from Denmark but incorporates elements reflecting his love of Japan.
The decor features iconic furniture classics by Danish designers, from Hans J. Wegner to Børge Morgensen. The specially designed kitchen in the heart of the home is by Garde Hvalsøe and features The Dinesen Model made of HeartOak. The kitchen design sparked the choice of installing solid HeartOak planks from Dinesen throughout the house. As a sophisticated detail, the surface finish of the flooring varies between the different rooms and levels. Thus, the notes of the wood range from light to natural to dark, highlighting the natural structure of the material in a three-layered colour palette.
